Hotel Ashtabula

1920 | Ashtabula, Ohio

H.L. Stevens & Co., Original Architect

The Neoclassical style building is a distinctive local landmark in the city of Asthabula.  Rising six stories and totaling more than 52,000 sf, the building functioned as a prominent hotel from 1920 until closing in 1985, then sitting vacant for many years. Hotel Ashtabula was rehabilitated in 2014 as office space for mental health provider, Signature Health, with additional office space for future tenants on the top two floors.  Historic features including the two-story lobby with decorative plaster, marble stair, and second-level ballroom were retained as part of the comprehensive $5 million rehabilitation project. Hotel Ashtabula was the first project in Ashtabula to take advantage of the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit program.
